Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleThis is a personal reflection by Hornby and aimed at a British audience of football fans I'm a new convert to BPL football and I've enjoyed the book However if you are not an addict or don't have any concern about star soccer players in the 1970s and 1980s this book might be a slog Along the way I've picked up some new jargon and better understand why their fans can be so frustrated by ArsenalHornby of course is a talented writer and his enthusiasm and frustrations come through very well in the prose

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleOne of the things that I've come to understand when trying to review books as well as many other things in life is that sometimes I won't connect with a book that otherwise might be a good book This is one of those times I'm not saying that this is a bad book but I struggled to complete it The book is essentially an autobiography of the author Nick Hornby as told through the lens of his obsession with the Arsenal football team I think the reason it didn't connect with me is that while Hornby seems like a nice fellow and has uite a few high profile works to his credit I wasn't interested in reading his autobiograp

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleI am a woman who has no interest in football whatsoeverthe American version of the European version However I've heard great things about this book and am very glad I read it Nick Hornby is a great writer and the construction of this autobiography is nothing short of brilliant Hornby weaves his life story into a tale about his obsession with football which is actually a huge part of his life story because he is just THAT OBSESSED The writing is wonderful and even though I did start to lose interest in all the footb

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleI am a big fan of Nick Hornby but this book was a bit of a dissapointment for me Perhaps I just had too high expectations for the book since I had heard such great things about it and had loved Hornby's novels High Fidelity and About a BoyFor some reason I just couldn't connect with Hornby and his obession with Arsenal I am a big sports fan as well but apparently not as obessed with a certain team as Hornby is What got me was how he could be so obessed with Arsenal and yet fairly nonchalant towards soccer in general At least that's how he came across to me In any case the book was generally entertaining and I did get a good laugh here and there but I wasn't totally enthralled with the book

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleThe only thing keeping me from giving this book 5 stars is my own complete lack of interest in anything soccer related Take that personal bias out and its a great read The insight into the soccer culture in the UK is frankly frightening but in a very funny way Having lived through the Denver Bronco Super Bowl failures of the 1980's as a kid I empathized with Hornby as he details his own irrational emotions growing up as a fanI think anyone sports fan or not will enjoy this book Sports fans because they empathize non fans because it will help explain the mystery

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleIf you only ever read one book about English football make sure it's this one you don't need another This explains all the emotions and hang ups related to being a fanatical football follower along with the supreme highs and dreadful lows There are superstitions like not wanting to do anything differently on a match day in case it upsets the natural routine and thereby causes your team to lose there's the guilt of arranging one's life around match days or not depending if they are home or away or still in the cup or not and trying to explain the addiction because that's what it is to non football people This book reminded me of Luke Rhinehart's book 'The Dice Man' where the character lives his life as dictated by a roll of the dice Much of football is chance and so a life lived like this is similar to one lived at the whim of a diceThis is a great book to help explain the attraction of football how you can be drawn in and the unforg

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleThis is a great read by the brilliant writer Nick HornbyIt's not just about football but about life's in general with examples of growing up woven in and out of an underlying passion about Arsenal FCAn entertaining book full of humour and probably one of the very best on the wide subject of football but so much interesting than most of the autobiographies from the actual players Peter Crouch included

Paperback↠ Fever Pitch eBook ç fever epub, pitch free, Fever Pitch KindleThis book was reasonably good but not being an Arsenal fan my interest drifted a bit in parts There were a few sections that were excellent It was also nice to read a book about 8090s football that was actually written much closer to the time rather than nostalgia books published nowadays where the memories aren't uite as vivid It was interesting to see how forgiving Hornby was towards the police for their part in the Hillsborough disaster I wonder if his opinion would be the same knowing what we now know in 2016 I was also a bit surprised that relatively little attention was given to the 1989 Championship decider which was such a focal point of the film
